June Gateway Guardians Private Event:

Date: Friday, June 6, 2025
Time: 9:30am-11:00am
Location: Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center- Red Rocks Room
We are thrilled to invite you to a special Gateway Guardians event that offers a rare glimpse into the history of Garden of the Gods Park.
We’ll begin in the Red Rocks Room at the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center, where we’ll be joined by Anna Cordova, Park Manager and Lead Archaeologist, for a fascinating discussion about the Fatty Rice Site—a culturally rich and historically significant location in the park. The Fatty Rice Site is the former location of the park’s first curio shop, but beneath its surface lies a much deeper story. This site has yielded a multitude of artifacts, offering valuable insights into the peoples who once lived, traveled, and traded in the park.
Following our discussion, we’ll venture out to the actual excavation site for an up-close experience with an active archaeological dig. This is a rare opportunity to observe archaeologists and technicians at work in the field and to learn about the tools, techniques, and findings that bring history to life.
Don’t miss this unique behind-the-scenes experience—offered exclusively to our Gateway Guardians. We look forward to sharing this powerful journey into the past with you
